Cycling along the Oude Maas and through the Hoeksche Waard

Along the Oude Maas you will discover beautiful small-scale nature reserves, such as the Rhoonse Grienden. In the Hoeksche Waard you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the old polder land. In between you also drive through Spijkenisse.

The route starts at Carlton Oasis. A little later you drive through the characteristic landscape of the Hoeksche Waard. In this open area you can enjoy views of creeks and vast meadows on car-free dikes.

Gaatkensbult
From here you drive a bit through the picturesque Oud-Beijerland, after which you cycle from the dike along the banks of the Oude Maas. One moment you look out over the water, the next at the moist forests on the shore. You will also pass through the beautiful village of Heinenoord. On the other side of the river you pass the Gaatkensbult, a lookout hill that was created during the construction of a residential area.

Hoeksche Waard
Further on you drive through two nature reserves outside the dike: the Carnisse Grienden and Rhoonse Grienden. These strips of land consist of rare freshwater tidal fins and therefore have special flora and fauna. Via the Spijkenisser Bridge you enter Spijkenisse, the town that has grown from a village into a pleasant town.
