Description

You start the cycle route in Oud-Beijerland. From this picturesque village you cycle straight into the countryside. Cycling over the dike you look out over the Oude Maas and the natural beauty on the banks. On the Binnenbedijkte Maas you come through Mijnsheerenland, Maasdam and Westmaas: old villages where you can see beautiful monumental buildings, such as the fifteenth-century Laurentiuskerk. You also pass De Hoop, a corn mill from 1822. In the Hoeksche Waard you cycle over winding dikes along polders, creeks and vast meadows. The route ends again in Oud-Beijerland. This village is named after Sabina van Beieren. She was the wife of Lamoraal van Egmont, the count who founded Oud-Beijerland in the sixteenth century.
