Tour of roses, ice creams and castles in Limburg

Your route starts at Ice cream parlor Clevers Grubbenvorst. Enjoy a cup of coffee or walk through the village with an ice cream in hand. You walk along the Maas to Houthuizen, where you pass corn mill De Houthuizer Molen. Grain is still regularly ground and the mill has an exhibition about the history and rebuilding of the mill (limited opening hours). You continue your walk along rose fields in the rose village of Lottum. You will also pass through the Kaldenbroek nature reserve, around an old Maasarm and Kaldenbroek Castle, a sixteenth-century castle farm of which the double moat can still be seen. The small-scale landscape - managed by Het Limburgs Landschap - is beautiful to see. Just before Grubbenvorst you walk past Huis De Steeg, a mansion from 1750.
