The Star of Dwingeloo Diever

This route is part of the Ster van Dwingeloo: a multi-day walking package that takes you through the idyllic surroundings of Dwingeloo. On this route you walk to the Drents-Friese Wold near Diever.

Hunebed D52
You can enjoy a terrace on the historic leafy Brink of Dwingeloo, while looking out at the old farms. A nice start to your route! Then you walk past the Sint-Nicolaaskerk, take a look at the spire. Further on is pretty Westrup, a former eighteenth-century manor house. In the countryside it is wonderful to walk between fields and meadows. Just outside Diever, on the Groningerweg you will pass hunebed D52, a special place.

Drents-Friese Wold
The Drents-Friese Wold is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. No wonder it gets wonderfully quiet here as soon as you walk deeper into the woods. Deep in the forest you will pass a hiding place from the Second World War. On the edge of Diever you pass De Vlijt, a beautiful corn mill from 1882. You walk through the countryside to B. & B. het Quiet Heuveltje: a unique overnight address.
