Sand Motor Monster
Today you start in cozy Kijkduin. From here you cycle straight along the coast to Monster, straight through the dunes. You are immediately assured of a holiday feeling! In the sea you sometimes see the sand motor, which ensures that the beaches here become wider and do not become eroded.
Maassluis
Maassluis was founded around 1340 as a small settlement, which mainly lived from fishing. In the nineteenth century, Maassluis became world famous for a towing company and the activities on the water expanded to include ship salvage, for example. The National Towage Museum can still be found in the town, but a company has also established itself there that has been providing information services in and around the port of Rotterdam since 1872. You cycle back via Maasland, a picturesque mining village that is centuries old.
