Description
Discover the historical buildings in and around 'The Glass City'. De Lier - and the Westland as a whole - is more than just greenhouse horticulture!
Lier Cathedral
Then you walk to De Kromme Zweth, with the unique nature reserve De Zeven Gaten on the other side of the water. This land outside the dike has hardly changed since 1712.
Old Liermolen
The old agricultural cultural landscape consists of seven wide ditches (popularly called holes) and strips of land that were used as wood fields. There are still many willows and alders growing there. Via Lierhand you come to the Zijde waterway that leads you to the hamlet of Oostbuurt. Just before De Lier you make a short excursion to the Oude Liermolen, a ground sailer from 1717. In heavy rainfall the engine with screw still contributes a bit.
