Part of the extensive Zuid-Kennemerland National Park consists of country estates. This route takes you across two of these estates: Duinlust and Brouwerskolkpark. You also walk through the Zanderij, a unique landscape within Zuid-Kennemerland.
Dunelust
You start the route in the woods of the Middenduin. You mainly walk here between Corsican and Scots pines that were planted at the end of the nineteenth century to keep the shifting sand in check. After a while you walk through Landgoed Duinlust. Enjoy the old trees and the beautiful plants you see here. There is also a monumental ice cellar on your route.
The Zanderij
It is also nice and quiet to walk in the adjacent Brouwerskolk Park. The estate owes its name to the Brouwerskolk: pure water was extracted from this in the seventeenth century for the Haarlem brewers. Due to sand extraction, this open field has become lower than the dunes. From spring you can enjoy many types of flowering plants here.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
