In the IJssel valley it is wonderful to cycle through floodplains and charming villages. You also drive through the Appense Bos. In short: an ideal route to relax.
Appen Bos
You can cycle straight into the Appense Bos. A humid nature reserve with a nice mix of deciduous and coniferous trees. Further on you drive through the Bussloo recreation area, the lake was created as a sand excavation during the construction of the A1. In the hamlet of Posterenk you drive past the Wilpermolen, a monumental flour mill from 1736.
House Hunden
Just past Twello you will pass Huize Hunderen, a monumental country house that originally dates from the seventeenth century. Get off at junction 61 on the banks of the IJssel. Here you have a magnificent view over the river and the old center of Deventer, where you can see the tower of the Lebuinus Church. Further on is the Bolwerksmolen, a sawmill from 1863. Cycling along the IJssel you can enjoy beautiful views. What a beautiful region!
