This new route takes you along a number of paths that have been used by the residents of the Veluwezoom for hundreds of years. You pass through forest and over heathland, streams and hills. The heights along the Zuid Veluwe are partly moraines (Grebbeberg, Wageningse Berg, Duno Plateau) and partly drifts of erosion material (Keijenberg). West of Renkum you pass the Beekdal, where industry was located 10 years ago, but has now been returned to nature as an Ecological Connection Zone between the Veluwe forests and the floodplains. The former hunting palace of the Oranje Nassau's and the 'Walled Garden' are located on the west side of the Beekdal. In a northerly direction you follow the old route to'De Ginkel\\\', where a sheepfold is in operation, and you continue the route to'Mossel\\\', traditionally a stopping place for travelers the Veluwe. The undulating area with forest and heath through which you cycle back to the southeast is called the Planken Wambuis. The route continues east past Wolfheze and takes you to the Mariëndaal estate. This is located on the Duno Plateau that extends from Doorwerth to the Posbank. You then go south-west again and west of Oosterbeek you will find Villa Hartenstein with the Airborne Museum. From there you cycle towards Doorwerth Castle over the southern edge of the Duno Plateau and along the Lower Rhine. You will cross various streams that flow from the Veluwe (including Heveadorp and Heelsum). Finally, you will pass the'Church on the Heuvel\\\' in Heelsum from 1517 and the Roman Catholic Church of Renkum with a walled rectory garden.
