Woodpeckers
This was once a vast heathland area. From the early 1800s, many hectares of Scots pine were planted for mining and shipbuilding. Thanks to the management of Natuurmonumenten, the forest has become much more varied. And you not only see it, you also hear it while walking, because many woodpeckers have settled in the forest.
