Utrecht estate and the Flaestoren

A beautiful discovery tour from an old inn. From a lookout tower you can view a vast nature reserve of forests, fens and heathland.

The route starts at Herberg"In den Bockenreyder\\\". At this 90-year-old inn you can sit inside by a cozy fire. When the weather is nice, take a seat on the terrace with a view of the old farm. You will soon walk to the Flaestoren, a 24 meter high lookout tower between the Flaes and the Goorven. From here you have a beautiful view of the Utrecht Estate and the fens. You can get a good look at these vulnerable nature reserves.

Heidevennen
The Utrecht estate was once a vast heathland area of which approximately 400 hectares now remain. A large part of the estate is planted with Scots pines and Douglas firs. You really feel like you are in no man's land in this tranquil and vast area. You can also walk along the Neterselse Heide. This nature reserve is also very varied and has more to offer than just heathland, fens, stream valleys, forests and rivers.
