Description
Put on your walking shoes for a special walk through Central Brabant. This route takes you through Den Opslag: a vast bird meadow area around the De Reusel stream.
Reusel
You walk on a car-free road through the hamlets of Broekzijde and Zelt. Here you can still see some beautiful authentic Kempen long-gable farms. Then you cross the Reusel. This stream has regained its old meandering course in recent years. A little later the asphalt ends and you walk on an unpaved road, wonderful!
The Storage
It is peaceful to walk among the grasslands. Until 1950 there were marsh marigold haylands here. They were mined for agriculture, but were returned to nature a few years ago. Many meadow birds live here, such as the godwit. There is a lookout tower on the sandy path next to the Wilhelmina Canal: here you have a beautiful view of Den Opslag and the grasslands of the Diessens Broek, a similar nature reserve on the other side of the water.
