On the pedals through the polder

Your route starts near Vrouw Venne, a seventeenth-century polder mill. Rijpwetering and Oude Ade are two picturesque villages. Squeeze your brakes to enjoy the characteristic atmosphere here. A little further on, get off at Farm Boterhuys for a farmer's ice cream! In Leiden you can enjoy beautiful historic buildings and Warmond also breathes the atmosphere of bygone times. Furthermore, you cycle along the Adermolen, a polder mill from 1941. You make a large round around the Kagerplassen. Corpse Mill No. 1 is a special mill: together with the Corpse Mill No. 2, these are the country's only twelve-sided stone mills. Polder mills can be seen in abundance here, they are indispensable. The municipality of Kaag en Braassem even has the most windmills in the Netherlands: 20!
