Description
Discover an island of peace and yet close to the world port of Rotterdam. In the nature reserve Voornes Duin you can walk for hours, enjoying the silence and the beautiful views. The route starts with a cup of coffee or tea and a piece of home-made butter cake at Badhotel Rockanje & Brasserie Lodgers on the island of Voorne, a cozy base for your walk today. The area Voorne-Putten may usually be mentioned in the same breath, the two islands are still separated by an old river arm: the Bernisse. Nature reserve Voornes Duin is extremely species-rich and unique in Europe. In the middle of these dunes, near the 2nd Battle, you will find a monument in memory of the execution of residents of Rockanje: Monument Fusillade 6 December 1944.
