East of Breda you can take a beautiful walk through Boswachterij Dorst. Put on your walking shoes for a route full of natural beauty, tranquility and follies.
Pigeon tower
From the starting point you immediately walk into the woods. A wonderful start to your walk. First you walk through the De Duiventoren sub-area. Peat was once extracted in this swampy area, and the canal system is a reminder of this. You pass a white pigeon tower. It is one of the follies in the forestry. A nice work of art that makes your walk just that little bit more surprising.
Follies
You walk briefly through the hamlet of Seters and the surrounding agricultural lands, before walking back into the woods. In Boswachterij Dorst you will mainly find Scots pine trees that were planted around 1800. There are also some sand drifts and plots with young foliage. Just past junction 69 you will see another folly: an island with some fake houses. A little before junction 42 there is another folly between the Corsican pines, the so-called 'contemplative place'.
