From Bossche Bol to Bossche School

Hop on your bike for a 50-kilometer journey of discovery through Brabant. This cycling route takes you through beautiful and diverse landscapes, through old fortified towns, and past buildings with unique architecture.

The unique Bossche School style
You'll begin your bike ride at De Heische Tip campsite in Zeeland. Coffee awaits, along with a delicious Bossche Bol, of course. From here, you'll explore the Bossche School style in the villages of Zeeland, Schaijk, and Reek. This way, you'll become more familiar with this unique traditionalist movement. The simple, austere design and numerical proportions have a mysterious quality. In Schaijk, you'll pass the house of Jan de Jong, one of the most prominent architects of this movement. The route continues through the historic fortified towns of Grave and Ravenstein. Here, you'll find many more remnants that recall the rich history of this region.

The Maashorst
The final section of the route takes you through the primeval area of Brabant: De Maashorst. Here you can spot European bison, bullocks, and Exmoor ponies, explore the "wijkengronden" (weeding grounds), and discover the ancient cultural and historical treasures. It's all too much to experience in one day, so feel free to spend a night at one of the comfortable B&Bs, beautiful campsites, bungalow parks, or unique group accommodations.
