Description

Enjoy cycling through the vast forests of the Veluwe and the vast landscape of the IJsselvallei, wonderful! The route also leads you past a beautiful castle.

Cannenburgh
The route starts in the middle of the IJsselvallei. You drive to Emst via the Kievitsveld recreation area. Further on you will pass Family Park't Smallert, where there is plenty to do for young and old. In Vaassen you make a refreshing pit stop at IJssalon Rozeboom. You will also pass the sixteenth-century De Cannenburgh Castle. In 1543, the then ruins fell into the hands of the well-known warlord Maarten van Rossum.

Elspeterbos
Via the hamlet of Niersen you drive into the woods of the Veluwe. You cycle through the Elspeterbos, almost to Elspeet. Then you turn to the Royal Houtvesterij Het Loo, the largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands. It consists mainly of deciduous trees. How wonderfully quiet it is here! You drive back into the IJsselvallei. It is beautiful to cycle here along rural roads, past fields and meadows.
