Description
Experience farm life in the heart of the Randstad. Walk from a cozy farm campsite to the Zoetermeerse Plas for a cup of coffee on the farm and walk back through the polders of Stompwijk through the Buytenpark.
Zoetermeer Lake
After a wonderful night's sleep at Camping De Drie Morgen, you set off. Along the edge of the Buytenpark, you walk through a surprisingly wild landscape with heathland and beautiful viewpoints. You will see Galloway cattle, Exmoor ponies and Drenthe heathland sheep. Are we still in the Randstad? You would think not, but it really is. The Zoetermeerse Plas, a little further on, was dug for sand extraction. Now you can look out over the rippling water and the surrounding vast polder land. Variety galore with this route!
Stumpwijk
On the north side of the lake you walk through the Prielenbos, a nice rough swamp forest. Take a break at Boerderij't Geertje: you can have a nice bite to eat or something to drink, but also take a tasty souvenir home or buy a picnic. In Stompwijk you see a few swing and drawbridges along the canal. Soon you walk back into the polder, after which you return to your starting point via the Buytenpark.
