Walking through the outskirts of Sint-Oedenrode

In the outskirts of Sint-Oedenrode you can walk through old hamlets and a quiet cultural landscape. In Sint-Oedenrode itself you can see two castles.

Cultural landscape
The route starts at Lunchroom Gasthuishoeve. You can enjoy a coffee and something delicious here, while sitting in the Mediterranean courtyard: special! You walk on low-traffic roads through the farmlands of Sint-Oedenrode: this area is part of the Het Groene Woud National Landscape. Here you will find a cultural landscape of fields, meadows, tree nurseries and small wooded areas. Occasionally you see a beautiful old regional farm.

Dommelrode
Ten Houte is an estate on which a castle stood from the fourteenth to the nineteenth century. Only a few farms remain, and some canal remnants can also be recognized. In Sint-Oedenrode you can walk along the publicly accessible garden of Kasteel Henkenshage, where there are some beautiful old oaks. Further on is Dommelrode: a sixteenth-century castle that now serves as a town hall.
