Walking through the rural area of Sint-Oedenrode

In the rural area of Sint-Oedenrode you walk through old hamlets and a quiet cultural landscape. In Sint-Oedenrode itself you will see two castles.

Cultural landscape
The route starts at Lunchroom Gasthuishoeve. Here you can enjoy a coffee and something tasty while sitting in the Mediterranean courtyard: special! You can walk along car-free roads through the farmlands of Sint-Oedenrode: this area is part of the Het Groene Woud National Landscape. Here you will find a cultural landscape of fields, meadows, tree nurseries and small forest plots. Every now and then you see a beautiful old regional farm.

Dommelred
Ten Houte is an estate on which a castle stood from the fourteenth to the nineteenth century. Only a few farms remain, and some canal remains can still be recognized. In Sint-Oedenrode you walk past the publicly accessible garden of Henkenshage Castle, where there are some beautiful old oak trees. Further on is Dommelrode: a sixteenth-century castle that now serves as a town hall.
