Beautiful fields characterize the Bollenstreek, which is known as one of the most colorful regions in the world. Green meadows and bulb fields alternate between wide sand ridges and extensive dunes.

With this route you will discover the surroundings of Noordwijkerhout. You immediately set course for this town from your starting point. Of all the beautiful buildings in Noordwijkerhout, the Witte Kerkje is without a doubt the icon of the village. You can see it nicely if you look into the Dorpsstraat. The church originally dates from 1300. Low windows have been placed on the side of the nave where once the villagers with an infectious disease had to attend mass.

From the crocuses at the end of March, to the gladioli, dahlias, carnations and asters in late summer: you walk past beautiful bulb fields. This used to be a small-scale mix of grasslands with hedgerows, dune fields and coppice fields. Not all of that original landscape has been excavated for flower cultivation: you can still see it between the park forest of Sancta Maria and the dunes.
