Tour of Haaksbergen and Buurserzand

This route starts at the hospitable Coffee and Tea House Hof't Sprakel. Soon after departure you will get off again in Haaksbergen to visit the old center. The village originated around 800 as an agricultural settlement on the Buurserbeek. Remnants of a wooden church from around the year 1000, the predecessor of the current Saint Pancratius Church, have been found along this stream. In the village you can also see some mansions from the heyday of the Twente textile industry. East of Haaksbergen you cycle through the Buurserzand, a unique nature reserve in which heathlands and hundred-year-old juniper berries, grasslands, forests and small fields alternate. Via Boekelo and Beckum you drive back to Hof't Sprakel. Stay the night, there is so much to see here!
