Description
From Schouwen-Duiveland you drive over the Oosterscheldekering to Noord-Beveland. A route full of views and natural beauty.
Storm surge barrier
You start the route in Boswachterij Westerschouwen. This is the largest forest in Zeeland, it was planted at the beginning of the twentieth century as part of job creation. It is wonderful to cycle between the trees, and you also drive a bit through the dunes. Further on you drive over the nine kilometer long Oosterscheldekering. With the opening of this storm surge barrier, the Delta Works were completed in 1986.
Kamperland
On Noord-Beveland you can take a nice tour through the polder. You cycle through a landscape of vast agricultural lands and rows of tall trees whose tops seem to touch the drifting clouds on the horizon. At Boerderijwinkel Hogehoeve you can stop off and buy something tasty for a picnic along the way. You pass through Wissenkerke and Kamperland, two characteristic villages. You drive back to the starting point via the Oosterscheldekering.
