Description
Walk in the footsteps of the Bavarian kings from castle to castle on this route. The route is very suitable for beginners. Along the way you can enjoy the most beautiful ancient sights of this castle region.
On the way to imposing castles
From the center of Füssen you start a small climb to the viewpoint Kalvarienberg. Take your time at this point, because you can see all the way over the inner city of Füssen, the Prealps with numerous lakes and the royal castles Schloss Hohenschwangau and Schloss Neuschwanstein. Then you continue along the Schwansee to Hohenschwangau. You will eventually arrive at the royal castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. You can visit both castles and the Museum of Bavarian Kings if you have an entrance ticket. You can buy these tickets at the Ticket Center in Hohenschwangau.
The most beautiful views
From here you walk back to the center of Füssen. You walk past the picturesque Alpsee along the Alpenrosenweg. Just before the end of the tour you can enjoy a beautiful view of the narrow gorge of the Lech waterfall from the Maxsteg. The last highlight of the route is the Hohe Schloss, center of the old town of Füssen, with colorful paintings on the facade.
