A tour of the old Maas dikes of Midden-Delfland

Your route starts at Grand Café't Hoofd in Maassluis. From here you drive with a view of the large container ships towards the coast, through the Solleveld and the Kapittelduinen. You come across dunes everywhere here. Between Hoek van Holland and's-Gravenzande you pass through the Staelduinse Bos. This special nature reserve is located on a remnant of former river dunes and was set up as an estate in the nineteenth century. A little further on you drive through the Spanjaards Duin, where the wind has free rein for new dune formation. You drive back via Schipluiden, a nice town with beautiful buildings. The Dorpskerk dates from the seventeenth century, take a look! In the picturesque and ancient Maasland you cycle right through the old village center. A nice place to get off for a while!
