Description
The Kalmthoutse Heide is a wonderful area. On the vast plain you can fully enjoy the peace and beautiful views. All around you will find more small nature reserves that are worth exploring.
Domain Noordheuvel
This route starts near the Belgian-Dutch border. With this tour you will discover the Noordertuin of Antwerp, a tourist area in the natural north of the Antwerp Kempen. You will soon drive through the Belgian nature reserve Domain Noordheuvel. Here you cycle between deciduous trees, most of which are more than 120 years old! You drive through a rural area to Gooreind, Brasschaat and Putte, where you dive in and out of the woods.
Fens
Antwerp's Noordertuin includes the Kalmthoutse Heide, which you cycle through. On this part of the route you can clearly see why it is called the Kalmthoutse Heide: what you see is almost all heather. Yet there is also a lot of forest here - without human intervention, the heathland would even become completely overgrown. You will also see some tranquil fens there. Step off to admire the beauty of these gems!
