Moretusbos
This route takes you through the Noordertuin of Antwerp, a tourist area that includes Brasschaat, Brecht, Essen, Kalmthout, Kapellen, Stabroek and Wuustwezel. Of all the sub-areas of the Antwerp Kempen, you will find the largest number of hectares of nature reserves here - perfect for a weekend of cycling through the greenery! You start in the Municipal Park of Brasschaat. Then you cycle through the Moretusbos, a beautiful park forest, to Putte: a village that is almost bisected by the Belgian-Dutch border.
Kalmthoutse Heide
You cycle onto the Kalmthoutse Heide, a former low peat area that has been transformed over the centuries into a beautiful large heath with fens and pine forests. For most people this is the most famous heathland in the wider region. It is part of the border park'De Zoom\\\' and consists of a semi-natural landscape: without human intervention - by cutting and sod - the heath would disappear. You drive back to your starting point over rural roads.
