Walking around the Zevenhuizerplas

Your route starts at Restaurant de Berghut. The Zevenhuizerplas is a very special lake, with the skyline of Rotterdam behind it. The city is a stone's throw away, but you can enjoy the peace and quiet around the water. It is a wonderful spot for sunbathing, but you can also enjoy a nice walk there. Discover nature and the many water birds! The Zevenhuizerplas was created by sand extraction. Many Rotterdammers come here for canoeing, SUPing, sailing and surfing: nice to see! If you walk around the lake you will pass the busy Nesseland beach, but also the quiet natural areas. Here you will see water birds such as the kingfisher, cormorant, heron and all kinds of reed birds. There is a swamp forest on the north bank and you can visit two of the four natural islands.
