On the road in the Vressels Bos

The Vressels Bos is a hidden gem in Brabant. A stone's throw from the beautiful Dommeldal you will discover a very special nature reserve here.

Wet heath
When you walk through the Vressels Bos now, it is difficult to imagine that there was hardly a tree to be seen here in the last century. The area then consisted mainly of sand drifts and heathlands. The 250 hectare forest was planted in the last century on a drifting sand ridge. You mainly walk between fragrant Scots pines. There are also some wet heathlands in the forest.

Old ven
In the middle of the forest you pass the Hazenputten. This old fen is a lovely spot for a picnic. You might spot one of the many birds that nest in the forest, such as a yellowhammer, hawk or black woodpecker. With this route you will also discover Vressel, an authentic herd corridor, where you walk through an old small-scale landscape of meadows, fields, trees, hedges and shrubs. It is located near the Dommel and you also cross this river with this route.
