The Little Schans
The starting point of this route is in the pleasant village of Terheijden. In this village you will find all kinds of traces of the Eighty Years' War, such as the Kleine Schans. This is one of the redoubts that had to protect Brabant against the Spaniards. The fortification was built during the Eighty Years' War for protection. A little further on you will find Molen de Arend, a round stone mill from 1742. This mill was commissioned by the noble Nassau-Siegen family from Breda. A large bricked-in memorial stone above the entrance still reminds of this. At the beginning of this route you walk past these historical sights.

If you walk out of the village and look back, you will see where De Arend got its name from: it towers above the buildings like a large eagle, with rotating blades that beat like wings in the wind.
