After a cup of coffee at Carlton President Hotel, put on your walking shoes. From Utrecht you can walk to the nice Haarzuilens, a beautiful village that was moved eastwards at the end of the nineteenth century by order of the owner of Kasteel de Haar. The castle can be visited, as are the beautiful gardens. The pretty village is mainly known for the nearby castle, but it is also a nice place to get a taste of the atmosphere. If the route is a bit longer, then walk on to the imposing castle. It is worth a visit, as are the gardens. The original fortress was probably already built in the 12th century, the ruin served as the basis for the current castle in 1892. West of Kasteel de Haar is the new Parkbos de Haar.
