From Schoorl you can drive to Bergen at your leisure. In this artists' village you will see many beautiful stately buildings. You will also pass the Ruinekerk. It burned down during the Eighty Years' War, but was then partly rebuilt. Alkmaar is known for its cheese, but you can also experience a unique historical atmosphere. Cycling along the canals you will see many monumental buildings, such as De Waag, which was completed in 1603. The famous cheese market is held here in the summer. You drive through the wide polders to the dunes where you enjoy the peace and the varied natural beauty. You pass through the seaside resort of Bergen aan Zee. Here you can take a dip before driving into the Schoorlse Duinen. The route ends with a delicious meal at Restaurant Honky Tonk.
