From Schoorl you can cycle at your leisure to Bergen. In this artist village you will see many beautiful stately buildings. You will also pass the Ruinekerk. This burned down during the Eighty Years' War, but was partly rebuilt afterwards. Alkmaar is known for its cheese, but you can also experience a unique historical atmosphere. Cycling along the canals you will see many monumental buildings, such as De Waag which was completed in 1603. The famous cheese market is held here in the summer. Through the vast polders you cycle to the dunes where you can enjoy the peace and varied natural beauty. You will pass through the seaside resort of Bergen aan Zee. Here you can dip your feet before you cycle into the Schoorlse Duinen. The route ends with a delicious meal at Restaurant Honky Tonk.
