A beautiful tour from Burgh-Haamstede

The route starts at the cozy hotel Even Buiten, just outside Burgh-Haamstede. You will soon cycle past the characteristic old Ring in Haamstede, with the John the Baptist Church from the sixteenth century. You also pass the thirteenth-century Haamstede Castle, before cycling into the castle forest. This is the only deciduous forest on Schouwen-Duiveland. It is easy to travel for miles in the vast dunes. You pass't Hert, a beautiful flour mill from 1748. In Scharendijke you pass a nice marina. Climb up the dike for a view over the Grevelingenmeer and the Brouwersdam. On the south side of the island you can climb the Plompetoren Watchtower, an old church tower from 1468. From the top you have a beautiful panorama over the Oosterschelde.
