Amersfoort has a beautiful historic centre that is excellent to explore by bike. In the countryside you cycle through vast forests, wide polders and you also pass through Soest.
Utrecht Hill Ridge
The route starts at Landgoed ISVW, a lovely place to stay. The estate was founded in 1916 by Frederik van Eeden, psychiatrist and writer of novels such as De koel meren des doods. From here you can drive straight into the vast forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. There you can enjoy many kilometres of varied natural beauty. And the peace! Take a deep breath and inhale the fragrant forest air!
Soester Church Neighborhood
Soest originated as a ribbon village on an extension of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the Soester Eng. At the foot of this is the old church from 1350. The area around the church is truly a picture. Past Baarn you drive into the polders. No forests here, but a wide landscape of grasslands and ditches. Beautiful! In Amersfoort you can enjoy the historical atmosphere. You also pass Brewery De Drie Ringen. Nice for a tour and a tasting.
