Description
In 2015, Neeltje Jans was on top of the second Tour stage, won by Greipel. For this tour, the former work island serves as the starting and ending point for a beautiful tour around Burgh-Haamstede. The route starts at Proef Zeeland - Neeltje Jans Mosselen. At this specialty fish, crustacean and shellfish store you can have a drink and of course enjoy the fresh fish. From Neeltje Jans you drive over the Pijlerdam to Schouwen-Duiveland. On the dike along the Oosterschelde you pass the Plompetoren, an old church tower from 1468. From the top you have a beautiful panorama of the surroundings. It is wonderful to cycle to Renesse through the wide polders. Then it's time for a lot of nature: you drive through dunes, wastelands, the Kasteelbos and Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in Zeeland.
