Description

Around Steenbergen you see the other face of North Brabant: marine clay polders with extensive grasslands and arable lands. A region with many villages and monuments worth seeing. De Vos is the first attraction on your route. This white flour mill dates from 1714. On the Steenbergse Vliet you can see the Benedensas: a restored monumental lock complex from 1824. There are still some beautiful historic buildings around the lock. From the lock door you have a beautiful view of the Dintelse Gorzen nature reserve. Further on you cross the Dintel, in the polders you can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet. Stop in Fijnaart at De Fendertse Hoeve for a cup of coffee! In the center of the town of Steenbergen you will find a nice atmosphere. The former Fort Henricus dates from 1626 and has been partly restored.
