On foot through the Loonse and Drunense Dunes

Charming Giersbergen
The route starts at Hotel Herberg & Brasserie D\\\'n Dries. Enjoy something tasty here before you walk to Giersbergen. There are almost only monumental thatched, long-gable farmhouses here. Here you can still experience the atmosphere of times gone by. Just outside Giersbergen you walk past fields and grasslands before entering the dense forests. What immediately stands out: the silence! Civilization seems many, many kilometers away here.

Brabant Sahara
After a while you walk into the heart of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. Here you see heathland, but also the drifting dunes to which this nature reserve owes its nickname of'Brabantse Sahara\\\'. As you walk through the sand, you experience the emptiness of a desert. After a while you walk back into the forests that have been planted to prevent the drifting sand from advancing towards inhabited areas. Afterwards you can enjoy a terrace at D\\\'n Dries.
