The beautiful nature near Waalwijk

Just outside Waalwijk you will make a beautiful trip through the varied nature. You cycle through the forests of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes, but also along the Vlijmens Ven and the Engelermeer.

Duchess
The route starts at Hotel Restaurant D\\\'n Dries. Enjoy something tasty here, before you cycle into the forests on the edge of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. Further on you cycle along the canal, it is wonderfully quiet here to make kilometers. On the edge of Drunen you see the Hertogin van Brabant, a corn mill from 1838. In Drunen itself you still experience the characteristic Brabant conviviality.

Vlijmens Ven
Just outside Drunen you cycle a bit through the vast polders. You pass the Emmamolen, a corn mill from 1886. Cycling over the Heidijk you cycle through the Nieuwkuijkse Bosje, a former coppice forest. On the right are the flowery grasslands of the Vlijmens Ven. In Vlijmen you see some beautiful old buildings. You also pass the Engelermeer. This lake is probably the remains of an old stream channel of the Maas from before the thirteenth century.
