The beautiful nature near Waalwijk

Just outside Waalwijk you can take a beautiful trip through varied nature. You cycle through the forests of the Loonse and Drunense Duinen, but also along the Vlijmens Ven and the Engelermeer.

Duchess
The route starts at Hotel Herberg & Brasserie D\\\'n Dries. Enjoy something tasty here before you cycle into the woods on the edge of the Loonse and Drunense Duinen. Further on you drive along the canal, it is wonderfully quiet here as you travel for miles. On the edge of Drunen you can see the Duchess of Brabant, a flour mill from 1838. In Drunen itself you can still experience the characteristic Brabant geniality.

Vlijmens Ven
Just outside Drunen you drive a bit through the vast polders. You pass the Emmamolen, a flour mill from 1886. Cycling along the Heidijk you drive through the Nieuwkuijkse Bosje, a former coppice forest. On the right are the flower-rich grasslands of the Vlijmens Ven. In Vlijmen you can see some beautiful old buildings. You will also pass the Engelermeer. This lake is probably the remains of an old channel of the Meuse from before the thirteenth century.
