Tour of Twente

A lovely bike ride through the beautiful Twente region: delightfully rural, with a few special places along the way to take a break. After a cup of coffee and cake at Hotel Jachtlust near Hertme, you set off. Between Almelo and Oldenzaal, you cycle through a typical Twente coulisse landscape full of lanes, meadows bordered by hedgerows and fields full of herbs. You also pass a lot of water, such as the recreation area Het Hulsbeek with its beautiful lakes. Further on, you will make a special discovery. Het Stift van Weerselo is a monastery where, from the fourteenth century onwards, unmarried noble ladies were provided with a good education. Take a break in Saasveld, or Soasel as they call it here: the stained glass of the beautiful Roman Catholic Sint-Plechelmuskerk from 1926 is worth it!
