A tour of the Schoorl Dunes

The dunes, the beach, the bulb fields and the old city of Alkmaar: this route has plenty of variety to offer. Plan plenty of time for it, so you can enjoy it optimally.

North Holland Dune Reserve
The route starts in Egmond aan den Hoef. You will soon cycle into the North Holland Dune Reserve. Due to the enormous variety of plants and animals, the reserve is a rarity in Europe. A wonderful area to completely clear your head and recharge your batteries. In Bergen aan Zee you can take a break at De Duinerij. Egmond Castle
Besides cheese, Alkmaar is also a city of mills. You pass the Geestmolen, a polder mill from 1565. In the old city center you will see many beautiful buildings and the Molen van Piet, a corn mill from 1769. Cranenbroek is a farmhouse from 1755. After you leave the Heiloo forest, you will soon see the Varnebroeker, a polder mill from 1860. The idyllic surroundings of Kasteel Egmond are a nice ending to your route.
