Boxtel is a charming village in North Brabant. You walk through the old village center with its beautiful historic buildings. Here you will pass, for example, St. Peter's Basilica, which dates from the thirteenth century. Museum De Canonye is located in a lovely house from the mid-seventeenth century. Here you will learn about Canons and their way of life. Further on you walk a bit along the Dommel, the river that crosses Boxtel. You also cross the park of Kasteel Stapelen. This thirteenth-century castle has been in use as a monastery for a century, but until 1800 it was owned by counts and other prominent families. The last noble owner died under the guillotine in Paris during the French Revolution.
