Meandering along the ponds of Diepenbeek

Diepenbeek is beautifully situated in greenery, with numerous ponds, as the Wijers region also promises. Walk a long route as a couple or take the children to the playground and play forest on the short route.

Demerstrand
The route starts at the Demerstrand Diepenbeek recreation area, at cycling junction 100. You will find more than enough parking spaces, including 10 places for campers (€8/24 hours all-in). The Demerstrand is a large recreational area with numerous sports options, a large playground and catering facilities (Fietscafé Knooppunt 100). Numerous cycling and walking routes depart from the domain and junction 100, but you can also use it as a starting point for a route based on the cycle route network.

Pomperik and Dauteweyers
The cycle tour takes you past the nature reserves Pomperik, Dauteweyers and De Dijken. Here you can fully enjoy the natural ponds for which the Wijers region is known. You might even hear a tree frog! The flowery meadows are a picture in the summer. The route is easy to shorten if you are traveling with children: for the little visitors there is also a play forest, the Geboortebos, just across the Demer from the Demerstrand recreation area.
