Walking through the Beemster

The route starts at BRASA Beemster, an atmospheric restaurant in Middenbeemster. Enjoy something tasty here before you walk into Middenbeemster. A picturesque old village where you can admire many monuments. The village church dates back to 1626. In the countryside, the landscape of grasslands and ditches still looks almost as it did in the seventeenth century. This unique area is therefore on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Between junctions 66 and 19 you can enjoy the views while you walk along ditches full of reed collars. On the left you look out over the Eilandspolder, a marshy peat area. In Westbeemster you can see several monumental nineteenth-century farmhouses. Further on is De Nachtegaal, a thatched corn mill from 1704. Back in Middenbeemster it is time for a drink on a terrace at BRASA Beemster.
