Walking through the Beemster

The route starts at BRASA Beemster, a charming restaurant in Middenbeemster. Enjoy a delicious meal here before walking into Middenbeemster, a picturesque old village where you can admire many monuments. The village church dates back to 1626. In the surrounding area, the landscape of grasslands and ditches still looks almost as it did in the 17th century. This unique area is therefore a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Between junctions 66 and 19, you can enjoy the panoramic views as you walk along ditches lined with reeds. On the left, you'll look out over the Eilandspolder, a marshy peatland. In Westbeemster, you'll see several monumental 19th-century farmhouses. Further on stands De Nachtegaal, a thatched corn mill dating from 1704. Back in Middenbeemster, it's time for a drink on a terrace at BRASA Beemster.
