Cycling through the Beemster and Schermer

The route starts at BRASA Beemster, a charming restaurant in Middenbeemster. Enjoy a delicious meal here before cycling through the picturesque village of the Beemsterpolder. Here you'll understand the saying "God created the world, the Dutch created the Netherlands." The Beemster is crisscrossed with ditches, canals, and channels to regulate the water level. You can still see the old rectangular land parcel pattern here. In the Schermer, you'll also enjoy the expansive grasslands. You'll pass the Ondermolen O, a polder mill dating from 1633. Polder Mill M dates from 1635. You'll pass through Noordeinde, Graft, and De Rijp, picturesque villages. You'll also pass two forts from the Defence Line of Amsterdam: Fort Spijkerboor and Fort aan de Jisperweg.
