Cycling through the Beemster and Schermer

The route starts at BRASA Beemster, an atmospheric restaurant in Middenbeemster. Enjoy something tasty here, before you cycle through the picturesque village of the Beemsterpolder. Here you will understand what is meant by the statement 'God created the world, the Dutch created the Netherlands'. The Beemster is crisscrossed with ditches, canals and channels to regulate the water level. You can still see the old rectangular parcelling pattern here. In the Schermer you can also fully enjoy the vast grasslands. You will pass the Ondermolen O, a polder mill from 1633. Polder mill M dates from 1635. You will pass through Noordeinde, Graft and De Rijp, picturesque villages. You will also pass two forts from the Defence Line of Amsterdam: the Fort at Spijkerboor and the Fort on the Jisperweg.
