Get a breath of fresh air in the Brabant polders

Just above Breda you drive through the other Brabant: that of the vast polders and creeks. You will find plenty of peace and quiet here, and you can get a breath of fresh air on the car-free roads.

Low Zwaluwe
The route starts in the beautiful town of Zevenbergen. You cycle into the polders along the leafy banks of the Roode Vaart. This canal was dug in the sixteenth century as a connection to the Hollands Diep. Lage Zwaluwe is a surprisingly beautiful town that enjoys a protected village view. Thanks to the many well-preserved houses and farms, you will experience the atmosphere of a bygone era.

The Hague Dijk
Further on you will pass the Gat van Den Ham, a creek that was created by the Sint-Elisabeth flood of 1421. You then drive along the harbor canal to the picturesque Hoge Zwaluwe. Here you pass, among other things, the Sint-Willibrordus Church from 1865. From the Haagse Dijk you look out over the Zwartenbergse Polder and the Romme\\\'s wheel. The Halsche Vliet flows on the east side of the dike. The Zwartenbergse Molen is a polder mill from 1889.
