Description

Cycling on the dikes, enjoying panoramic views of water and meadows. You will find it in the Waterland. Just like the many sights in gems such as Edam and Monnickendam.

Watercourse
From here you can cycle straight to the Purmerbos, a special feature in the vast Waterland. In Watergang you will see some characteristic black tarred hay houses, the Dorpsstraat is the narrowest village street in the Netherlands. The beautiful village church dates from 1642. You will also pass the Ilperveld visitor center, where you can learn more about this special nature reserve.

Waterlandse Zeedijk
In the polders it is wonderful to travel for miles on car-free roads. You drive a bit along the Waterlandse Zeedijk, which was built in the Middle Ages. Walk onto the dike to enjoy the view over the Markermeer. Further on you can see Marken from the Zeedijk when the weather is nice. You then pass through three towns with character: Monnickendam, Volendam and Edam. Allow plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere and unique history here.
