The Dwingelderveld is known for its vast heathland. However, on the north side there is also a beautiful forest area.
Dwingelder es
The route starts in Dwingeloo, the village with the most beautiful village green in Drenthe. You walk along a car-free road that is lined with trees, extensive meadows and old thatched farms. You can already see the forest on the horizon. If you go out nice and early on a humid day, you will enjoy the mixture of beautiful light and the mist that hangs over the Dwingelder es. In any case, you can enjoy the peace and quiet here!
Dwingelderveld
In the forest you see a mixture of deciduous and coniferous trees. You can easily shake off the daily routine here. A lovely walk to relax. When you walk out of the forest, you look out over the Dwingelderveld and you see the Davidsplassen. Grab a bench here! Further on, a signpost leads you via a side path to a bird watching hut. You walk back through the forest to't Hof van Dwingeloo: time for a terrace!
