The tower dates from the fifteenth century, the rest of the building dates from 1629. After walking a bit through the polder, you walk into the Waterleidingduinen, which are part of the North Holland Dune Reserve. The landscape here consists of a mix of dunes, deciduous and coniferous trees.
Marquette Castle
There is a lookout tower on the 26 meter high Kruisberg, where you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. The castle on the Marquette Estate was built on the foundations of a thirteenth-century fortress. You walk back to the starting point along the leafy Neksloot.
