Water supply dunes
The route starts in Heemskerk. On your way to the center you pass the monumental St. Lawrence Church from 1891 with its striking tower. A bit further on is the village church. The tower dates from the fifteenth century, the rest of the building dates from 1629. After a short walk through the polder, you walk into the Waterleidingduinen, which are part of the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. The landscape here consists of a mix of dunes, deciduous and coniferous trees.
You pass Gasterij de Kruisberg, which is located in an old, well-preserved farm. Time for a terrace with something tasty! There is a watchtower on the 26-meter-high Kruisberg, which offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. The castle on Landgoed Marquette was built on the foundations of a thirteenth-century castle. You walk back to the starting point along the leafy Neksloot.
