Cycling through Castricum, the dunes and the Zaanstreek

From Landgoed Duin & Bosch you first cycle into the North Holland Dune Reserve. You cycle through forests and dunes on a winding cycle path. How wonderfully quiet it is here! The only thing you hear is the rustling of the wind and the chirping of birds. On the edge of Beverwijk you pass Landgoed Westerhout and the Akerendam country estate. Further on is Fort aan de Sint-Aagtendijk. From that point on the landscape changes: you cycle through the Zaanstreek with its vast polders. You cycle through Westzaan, a picturesque ribbon village where you can still experience the atmosphere of times gone by because of the many old buildings.
