On foot through Scheveningen and Meijendel

In Scheveningen it is wonderful to walk along beautiful old buildings and of course the boulevard. On the north side of this seaside resort you come through Meijendel, a wonderfully quiet dune area.

Scheveningen Pier
Scheveningen is a great base to explore the Dutch coast. From here you can walk straight onto the famous boulevard. You look out over the beach, on the right are a few sights, such as the Beelden aan Zee museum and the Kurhaus. Further on is the Scheveningen Pier from 1961, its predecessor dated from 1901. On the beach you can blow away the cobwebs, when the weather is nice you can even paddle.

Meijendel
Meijendel is a varied nature reserve. Close to the sea you will see a low vegetation of dewberry, mosses and sometimes dune rose. The prevailing south-westerly wind has created parabolic dunes with horseshoe-like shapes, beautiful! Every now and then you can hear the melodious song of birds such as the nightingale. More to the east you walk into the forests, where oaks, hawthorns and honeysuckle grow. How wonderful it is to walk here quietly in the lee!
